As if it were a flapjack.
Holing pincers, perforate
the bailing muscle.
Narrow chasms nicked
like a crescent moon.
Flapped spigot leaks
dinted crimson tears,
that dissipate
amongst the blistering grid.
But bleeding hearts heal. Especially with the Avett Brothers.
They let go. Do they ever.
And move on.
This is so beautiful, vivid with imagery. I admire people who can write real poems like this, not just shorter sentences lined up a certain way like I do :)

I like the first video, all of it: the pleasant melody, the moving lyrics, the blue, penetrating eyes of the singer. A real treasure!

Shopgirl- Well I'm glad you think so. I had to tinker with this so much I felt more like an engineer than a writer. It still feels like a rusty machine to me. And pu-lease, stop doing that to yourself!

Joanne- I think that's exactly why I started the FNF. My weekends are usually filled with (besides sports) music--and a good movie now and then. So, the Frolic is my weekend launch, my attempt to bring something fresh to the table (even if that means reviving the old).
Duta- I just love the rock, the folk, the punk, the bluegrass... Such angst and rawness in this music, the sort that only youth can capture.
BillyP- Yes, they have been compared to Van Zandt, who, incidentally, I feature on "The Frolic" page--at top of blog. These boys have the same kind of "emotionalism" (also being the title of one of their albums)as the beloved Van Zandt: that raw sensation, and underlying sadness. I hope, for their sake though, not the same kind of drama.
What on earth is that thing at the top? It looks like some sort of torture instrument.
